The Junior Analyst will support the portfolio team through industry and company research while maintaining proprietary financial models.

General

• Prepare and distribute daily and/or weekly packet materials
• Keep updated on financial market and energy sector news / trends
• Assist Portfolio Team with special projects or requests as needed
• Maintain contact information for coverage companies, investment banks, and research

Company Coverage

• Acquire in-depth understanding of companies on coverage list
• Listen/read quarterly earnings calls and other relevant company presentations
• Update and maintain proprietary company models
• Aid in company write-ups for new offerings or coverage expansions
• Suggest potential investment ideas to Portfolio Team

Broad Industry Research and Portfolio Responsibilities

• Gather, maintain, and present on specific aspects of energy value chain during weekly meeting
• Build and update slides associated with Quarterly Market Update
• Develop value-added systems to aid in portfolio management and investment decision making
• Assist with management and development for existing and prospective Tortoise funds

Education, Training, Registrations or Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or other investment/energy related field

• Desire to become a CFA charterholder

Work-related Experience

• Exposure to investment management or energy industry

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

• Knowledge of fundamentals of investment management
